Lots of love to Jacob Rodriguez for laying down th Lots of love to Jacob Rodriguez for laying down this beautiful sax solo on the song “thirteen” from our new album “one: a joyful psychedelic journey.” We wrote this album to be listened to start to finish as one continuous piece of music. We knew we wanted a climax right towards the end and we thought it would be cool to introduce a new sound at that point that hadn’t been heard in the rest of record. A couple of months ago, my friend and brother-in-l A couple of months ago, my friend and brother-in-law, Bayard, died suddenly and unexpectedly. It’s been a terrible loss to all of us that were close to him and of course most of all to his wife and family. Bayard and I always connected over music. He always had his finger on the pulse of what was going on and he had wonderfully eclectic taste. He was great about sharing new discoveries and turned me on to a number of my favorite bands, including Hermanos Gutierrez. This song from our latest album, “one: a joyful psychedelic journey” was influenced by them, and I wanted to share it today on Bayard’s birthday. I think he would have really dug this and would have appreciated seeing how his musical suggestions made their way into our music (on multiple occassions).
